Bath Township, Ohio - Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Resolution
Bath Township is a suburban community located on the outskirts of Akron that values its natural setting of steep ravines, large areas of tree canopy coverage, and riparian corridors along with its rural character. At the same time, the township recognizes the value of its higher density residential areas, commercial corridors, and two hamlets with a strong historic character that, together, brings a sense of balance and variety to a community that has almost reached full buildout based on existing zoning and sewer availability. In 2008, Wendy Moeller (as staff with another firm) led a project with the township to reevaluate its comprehensive plan and determine where updates were necessary to establish a strong vision for the future. The process including refreshing the goals established in the previous 1996 plan, acknowledging accomplished objectives, and setting out a new set of strategies to undertake in the next 10 to 15 years. After the adoption of the plan, the township hired Compass Point Planning to review and update the township zoning resolution to establish clear and predictable standards and fully implement the comprehensive plan. The new zoning resolution was adopted in October 2014.
